Why Barns Smell So Good to Those Who Love ThemI have always loved barns. I loved visiting them. Drawing them. There is something about walking into an old barn - the smell of hay, wood, earth, animals, dust, and weathered timbers.
The best barns, to me, are the old barns of New England. Victorian and Edwardian-era structures, with their massive beams, worn floors, hand-built details, and histories written into every board.
A barn represents more than a hardworking family’s place of business. Within its weathered walls are memories of early mornings, long days, changing seasons, and the quiet satisfaction of honest work.
To someone who loves barns, it doesn't smell like dirt or manure.
It smells like we're not in a city.
There is something deeply grounding about that.
An old barn can hold a feeling that is difficult to put into words. You walk through the door, breathe in that familiar smell, and suddenly you are connected with the idea of how life should be.

Welcome to the Vintage Country community! My name is Em - I'm a stranger passing through, an artist running a small farmstead in New England, and enjoy creating videos inspired by good ol' fashioned living.Check out my Etsy shop here!I chose Etsy for a practical reason: it provides access to a massive marketplace and makes it possible for my products to reach people who might otherwise never find them. But using a platform does not mean I necessarily agree with everything about the company, its policies, or the businesses operating within it.I firmly believe we should all pay closer attention to where our money goes, so I try to research the companies and suppliers I personally purchase from to learn whether they align with my values. I don't always get it perfect, and completely avoiding every company we disagree with isn't always possible.THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!
